Accessible resin ramps

An accessible resin ramp is a sloping path to a door or between levels, built on a concrete or compacted base and finished in resin bound or anti-slip resin bonded. It gives step-free access with good grip and no trip edges.

How accessible resin ramps work

A usable ramp is mostly geometry: a gentle gradient, level landings at doors and at turns, and handrails where needed. For new public buildings Approved Document M sets out gradients; at home, the same guidance is a sensible starting point.

The surface is chosen for grip. Resin bound with an anti-slip additive suits most homes; steeper or shaded ramps can be finished in resin bonded for maximum grip.

Is it right for you?

  • You need step-free access to a door
  • Someone in the home uses a wheelchair or walker

How we do it

  1. Survey levels and door thresholds
  2. Design gradient and landings
  3. Build base and edges
  4. Fit handrails where needed
  5. Lay grippy resin finish
  6. Cure and hand over

Specification

Accessible resin ramps: common questions

Can a disabled facilities grant pay for a ramp?

In England and Wales councils run Disabled Facilities Grants; in Northern Ireland they are run by the Housing Executive, and Scotland has its own scheme of grants through councils. Eligibility usually follows an occupational therapist assessment.
