Groundworks and finishing: common questions
Why is the base so important?
Resin bound is thin and copies whatever is under it. A weak or uneven base shows through as cracks, dips and loose patches.
Do I need a drain if my drive is permeable?
Not always. A fully permeable build usually needs no channel, but slopes towards a garage or house, or slow-draining clay, can still need one.
Do I need edging?
Yes, wherever the resin meets soft ground. Without a restraint the edge breaks away over time.
Can you build my dropped kerb?
Works in the public footway are carried out by the highway authority (the council, or DfI Roads in Northern Ireland) or a contractor it approves. We help with the application and get your drive ready to meet it.
