Resin steps

Resin steps are concrete or masonry steps finished with resin bound on the treads and, where wanted, the risers. A contrasting nosing on each step edge makes them easier to see and protects the resin from chipping.

How resin steps work

Steps carry a resin drive or patio through a change of level. The structure has to be sound concrete or masonry; resin is the finish, not the step.

Each tread is formed with a slight fall so water runs off, and the nosings are set first so the resin is trowelled up to a firm edge. In shaded spots an anti-slip additive is recommended.

Is it right for you?

  • You have garden or entrance steps to match a resin surface
  • Your existing steps are sound but tired
  • You want clear, visible step edges

How we do it

  1. Check the structure is sound
  2. Fix nosings to each step edge
  3. Prime treads and risers
  4. Trowel resin bound to each tread
  5. Add anti-slip where needed
  6. Cure and protect

Resin steps: common questions

Can resin go on existing steps?

Yes, if the steps are sound concrete or masonry. Loose or crumbling steps are rebuilt first.
