Resin tree pits across the Highlands and Islands

A resin tree pit is a porous resin bound surface laid around the base of a tree in paving. It lets water and air through to the roots, removes the trip hazard of an open pit, and can be laid flush with surrounding paving.

Tree pits use a coarser blend so the surface stays porous. A gap is left around the trunk so the tree can grow, and the pit can be cut back and extended in future years.

In Inverness we can price work such as adding anti-slip resin to an entrance ramp, laying permeable paths on a new housing scheme and laying a shared path through a school or park.

Planning in the Highlands and Islands

Commercial and development sites often have planning conditions on surfacing and drainage, including sustainable drainage. We work to the approved drawings and conditions and can supply product details for discharge of conditions.

Weather and working days

The Highlands and Islands have short laying seasons and wet, exposed weather, so materials and timing are planned well ahead. Spring to autumn offers the most laying days in the Highlands and Islands, but dry, mild winter days can work too.

Resin tree pits in the Highlands and Islands: questions

What postcodes do you cover around the Highlands and Islands?

We cover IV, PH, KW, HS and the surrounding districts, including Inverness and Fort William.

Who approves dropped kerbs in the Highlands and Islands?

Dropped kerb consent comes from your council as roads authority. We help with the application and get your drive ready to meet the new crossing.

Do I need planning permission in the Highlands and Islands?

Scotland's householder permitted development rules allow many hard surfaces at a house where the surface is porous or water drains to a permeable area within the property. A fully permeable resin bound build, with a porous base under it, meets that test.
