Guide

How long does a resin driveway last?

Laid correctly over a sound base, a resin bound driveway typically lasts 15–25 years. The base, the depth of the resin layer, the type of resin and the weather on the day it is laid make more difference than the brand of stone.

What shortens the life of a resin drive?

A weak or moving base, a layer laid too thin to save material, mixing in damp conditions or below about 5°C, and non-UV-stable resin on an exposed drive are the usual causes of early failure.

Why do some resin drives turn yellow?

Aromatic (non-UV-stable) resins darken and yellow in sunlight. Aliphatic, UV-stable resin keeps its colour, which is why our guide prices assume UV-stable resin on exposed surfaces.

How do I make mine last?

Sweep it regularly, wash it once or twice a year, deal with oil and fuel spills quickly, avoid turning wheels on the spot when parked, and keep skips and scaffold off it unless it is protected with boards.

Can a tired drive be brought back?

Often, if the resin is still well bonded. A deep clean, repairs and a refreshed finish can add years; a loose or crumbling layer is better relaid.
